I think yes!

If I gave you this map could you point to France? How about Ukraine? Chances are you can not.
Roughly 18% of adult U.S. citizens were able to get higher than 70% of questions on a geography test correct while only 6% got over 80% of questions correct.
This proves Geographical knowledge is certainly lacking, but why should we care about geography? What does it provide? A lot actually!
It helps develop a more sophisticated understanding of international relations, cultural differences, and environmental sustainability while also enabling better navigation using maps, improves trip planning, and provides spatial awareness. By knowing geography you will have a better understanding of natural systems, climate change, and resource management while simultaneously developing your ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and understand the connection between people and their environment.
So I do in fact believe knowing geography is important or at least useful to know for day to day life even if its the most basic form of geography like knowing where certain country's are or navigating specific areas. Geography might also surprise you when you really give it a chance!
